Our Rich History

Understanding Our Organization

At our core, Montford Point Marine Association Chapter 10 in Jacksonville, NC is a nonprofit veterans’ organization. Our organization was established to emulate and honor the great legacy of the first African-American marines who enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces at the Montford Point Camp, New River, NC between 1942 and 1949.

Our Camp Lejeune Chapter, which was chartered October 28,1974, promotes and hosts activities geared toward bettering the lives of marines, veterans, their families, and residents of all ethnicities and backgrounds in Onslow County. Through educational assistance programs, veterans’ programs, and the promotion of community services, we are able to accomplish this, raise morale, and improve educational standards and opportunities on a local and national level.
